Benidorm surpasses 3 million visitors and 16 million overnight stays in 2025

The Spanish resort city of Benidorm published preliminary figures for 2025, recording record visitor numbers. The statistics do not yet include the final December figures. An update is expected in the coming days, after Spain’s National Statistics Institute (INE) publishes the missing numbers. However, it is already clear that the city cleared two symbolic milestones at once.
Three million visitors and sixteen million overnight stays
According to the annual report by the Visit Benidorm Foundation, in 2025 Benidorm welcomed 3,058,623 visitors, which is 7.7% more than a year earlier. The total number of overnight stays reached 16,211,131, adding 3.4% to the 2024 result. International markets were the main driver of growth, providing the main share of the increase. For the first time in its history, the city crossed the “3 million” mark for visitors and the “16 million” mark for overnight stays in the same year.
The report was presented by Mayor Toni Pérez and the head of Visit Benidorm, Leire Bilbao, at the opening of the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) 2026 in Madrid. The ceremony took place in a subdued atmosphere: due to a tragic rail accident in Adamuz, official mourning was declared in the country, and the fair began with a minute’s silence in memory of the victims.
The hotel sector remains stable
Benidorm’s hotels recorded 11.6 million overnight stays, welcoming 2.45 million guests, which is 4.3% higher than the previous year’s figure. Average occupancy rose by 1.1 percentage points to 82.2%. The average length of stay remained virtually unchanged, holding at around five days.
International visitors lead the way
The demand breakdown clearly demonstrates the growing influence of foreign guests. In terms of overnight stays, the picture is as follows:
- 10.9 million overnight stays were generated by international tourists (67.7% of the total, up 6.1%)
- 5.2 million overnight stays came from the domestic market (32.2%, down 1.7%)
By number of visitors, the ratio is similar: 1.8 million international visitors (59.7%) versus 1.2 million Spaniards (40.3%).
Apartments as the main growth driver
The tourist apartment segment posted the strongest growth. The number of visitors choosing this format amounted to 483,516 people (+36.9%), and the number of overnight stays reached 2.56 million (+20.3%). Occupancy stood at 75.7%, with an average length of stay of 5.5 days.
Campsites continued to post record occupancy: 124,443 visitors made 2,018,422 overnight stays. Occupancy was 93.9%, and the average length of the visit reached 20.1 days.
Casinos as a key visitor draw
One of the most popular attractions for tourists is Casino Mediterraneo Benidorm. It is a modern venue that brings together the most interesting gaming options, which even allows it to compete with online casinos.
This is an extremely important point, since online platforms are becoming increasingly popular worldwide, from Spain to India. Online casinos offer a truly broad range of games, which includes exclusive games such as Plinko, slots, virtual roulette, or crash games that have become hits. The authors at www.indianaviatrix.com noted that the crash game Aviatrix is popular worldwide. To play them, there is no need to go anywhere. Moreover, the game catalog itself is much larger than in the largest land-based casinos.
And yet, even under such conditions, Casino Mediterraneo Benidorm remains attractive to tourists. This is largely thanks to its atmosphere.
Event tourism as a tool to combat seasonality
Mayor Toni Pérez called 2025 a “very good” year and emphasized that growth was broad-based, affecting all accommodation categories. He separately highlighted the role of promoting the Benidorm brand on international platforms and attracting major events during off-peak periods for tourism. As an example, he cited the recent Cyclo-cross World Cup round.
Unemployment hits a regional low
The Visit Benidorm report goes beyond pure tourism statistics, including socioeconomic indicators. Unemployment in the city fell to 9.41%, down 1.34 percentage points over the year. This is the lowest figure in the entire Valencian Community. The population grew by 2,558 people and reached 77,221 residents. The number of people registered with Social Security increased by 787 people to 32,885.
Safety scored near the maximum
Overall visitor satisfaction with the resort stood at 78.8%, which is 2.1 percentage points higher than the 2024 result. Among individual parameters, safety leads with a score of 95 out of 100 points. Next come climate (93.4%), the tourism offering (74.9%), and satisfaction with hotels (61.7%).
These are very strong results that allow Benidorm to stand out even against more prestigious resorts. They also fit well with current tourism trends, as countries actively compete for travelers’ attention. Japan, for example, has ushered in a new era of tourism competition.
What to expect for Benidorm in 2026
Booking data for 2026 points to growth in every month. Nevertheless, the mayor cautioned that geopolitical uncertainty in the world does not allow highly accurate medium-term forecasts. Added to this is weaker domestic demand in Spain. Benidorm, however, has a strong international customer base, which makes it one of the most resilient destinations in the country. If current trends are confirmed, 2026 promises to be a “very good” year for the city.
